Mary and Max

Song: Fragile, Erin Murray
Notes: Okay, so this song does not embody the feel of Mary and Max. At all. I love this movie very, very much and find myself inspired by it nearly every time I watch it. That being said, I still haven't left 'The Boat That Rocked' territory, and continue to listen to nothing but its soundtrack. So, this song's lyrics are somewhat inspired by the characters in Mary and Max, who start a long distance friendship despite being shunned by the rest of the world. There's a bit of Buddy Holly in it, and apparently Cat Stevens. Both of which are in The Boat That Rocked.

I blame Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Anyway, in the States, Mary and Max is on demand for Comcast, so go watch it.

The Boat That Rocked

Credits Used: Let's Dance, David Bowie
My Credits: Turn On the Radio, Erin Murray
Notes: I'm way obsessed with this film. It's become unhealthy. I listened to nothing but the soundtrack from this movie for about a week, and this is what happened. The soundtrack is phenomenal, but unfortunately doesn't include all 60 hits from the 60s and 70s that were used in the film. Still, any album with ample use of The Who and The Kinks gets my vote.
When I was a kid, I listened to the radio a lot... It was mostly Casey Casem top forty, but then when I was older I listened to the local rock station starring shock jocks Ethan and Omelette. Every single morning we'd listen to them on the way to school. Nowadays the radio is nearly all adverts and the music isn't really my taste... So this song is kind of about wanting that back.

My Best Friend's Wedding

Song Used: The Burt Bacharach Songbook... I Don't Know What to Do With Myself, Say a Little Prayer, What the World Needs Now is Love, etc
My Song: Don't Let the Music End, Erin Murray
Notes: I've been wanting to do this for a while, and figuring I haven't been on this site in a while, I thought it was appropriate. I have literally listened to nothing but the Definitive Burt Bacharach for days. DAYS. In this song, I pretty much stole the type of backup the Shirelles might do for 'It's Love That Really Counts', and I took the sort of stop-and-go-piece-by-piece feel of 'This Guy's In Love With You', the staccato instructions of 'Walk On By' and the narrative type of thing Burt likes to do.

And um... There's a song he does called 'Let the Music Play'. Oops.

And wait, there's more...
Don't visit these unless you want to see my name in various fonts... That's about the only difference between them.

Destination Matters Radio Spots

Here are some radio spots for 'Destination Matters', which includes score and songs by yours truly. So now it's on... oh my god... the radio. Oh shit.
If anyone wants to come, I'll be part of the Q and A, but chances are I'll be doing my best to sit in the corner, quietly reading cereal packets until they let me leave.

Off-Topic: Bubbly Me

Song: Bubbly Me, Erin Murray
Notes: I wrote this at work and figured I'd share. It's not quite movie based, but I'm sure it could fit somewhere, and it has a narrative if nothing else. It's about someone being left for a goth chick.

Imagine Magazine

This was printed in Imagine Magazine this week (or month or something...) about a project I'm currently working on. Once I'm done with it, I'll post everything here. It includes 80s pop and rap music. Oh yes. It's a trainwreck.
I'm at the very bottom:
